13th Annual Earth Sciences Student Colloquium: April 20, 2018

Save the date! The 2018 Earth Sciences Student Colloquium will be on Friday, April 20, 2018. Join us for a day of student research presentations and posters, a chance to meet alumni and professionals, and a celebratory banquet featuring a silent auction and keynote speaker. We are honored to announce that Kirk Johnson, director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, is the 2018 keynote address.

Abstracts for the 12th Annual Earth Sciences Student Colloquium are due Monday, March 6, 2017Submit your abstract.

The Earth Sciences Student Colloquium is a one-day conference organized by Earth Science graduate students that showcases student research relating to the fields of geography, geology, GIS, paleoecology, snow science, paleontology and related disciplines. This year, our event takes place on April 13, and will feature oral presentations given by students throughout the university, a GIS panel, silent auction, poster session and social hour, and end with a banquet dinner and a keynote address by Doug Chabot, Director of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.

12th Annual Earth Sciences Colloquium: April 13, 2017

Save the  date! The 12th Annual Earth Sciences Colloquium will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Join us for a day of student presentations, skill-building workshops, and a judged academic poster competition. We’ll end the day with a celebratory banquet featuring a keynote speaker on cutting-edge Earth Science research. The conference is free and open to the public. 2016 Keynote Speaker: Dr Greg Stock

We’re excited to introduce Dr. Greg Stock, the first-ever Yosemite National Park Geologist, as our 2016 Keynote Speaker this year!  Dr. Stock’s main research interests are primarily in geomorphology and include river dynamics, rock fall and debris flows, and glacial erosion.  Take a look at this interview where he describes John Muir’s influence on his research.
